IESE MBA Program Highlights (Navarra)

IESE's 18-month MBA program is longer (and thus more expensive) than most in Europe, but that's partly what draws about 216 students to its Barcelona campus each year. Shorter programs leave time for little else than the acquisition of knowledge, whereas IESE offers a transformational experience, says Luis Palencia, associate dean of the full-time MBA.

Grounding in Ethics

IESE, like its parent university, Navarra, is an institution of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church founded in 1928. Opus Dei promotes the pursuit of “personal holiness through work, family and social life”. But there is no proselytising and the atmosphere is the same as at any modern business school. However, the link does inform a strong commitment to ethics in business.

Spanish Immersion

The IESE experience includes a Spanish immersion program intended to ready students to conduct business in Spanish-speaking countries. One-third of students begin the program in a bilingual section and take half their coursework in Spanish. Others who get their language skills up to snuff may take business classes in Spanish in their second year. Students who earn at least a B in two Spanish courses receive a bilingual MBA degree.

International Exchange

IESE offers exchange programs with top schools like Columbia Business School, Kellogg, and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

I just wanted to give you my first feedback about working with Tom for the admission to B-schools. I have submitted my application now for Harvard and Wharton. Without Tom I would have never been able to achieve this within such a short period of time. He was very helpful, responded quickly to my questions and definitely helped me in getting the max out of my candidacy. Great experience. I hope I will get invited for an interview with Harvard or Wharton.
